Aram Simonyan, Rector of Yervan State University and President of the Council of State Universities and Correspomdig Member of the RA National Academy of Sciences, was awarded Jim Torosyan Gold Medal for his significant contribution in reforms in science and education.

Rector Simonyan highly appreciated for the award. "I don't consider this ward as my personal but as the evaluation fo the role of the Yerevan State," he said.

Valuing the education reforms underway in the Armenian universities over the recent years, Rector Simonyan especially appreciated the policies implemented by the Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction in this domain and emphasized that his university views that development in the education system can be accomplished only through cooperation both inside the country and with foreign universities.

One of the cooperation issues, according to YSUAC Rector Hovhannes Tokmajyan, could be creating engineering and economics dictionaries and suggested to jointly work on this, given the huge demand.

Rector Tokmajyan valued cooperation with YSU. "This cooperation has been having its positive impact in the overall development of education and research in the country. YSU has a great contribution in introducing the Bologna processes in Armenia," he said. Rector Tokmajyan also reminded that the first construction department was formed in YSU 90 years ago.
