Social Habitat in Goris Project Summarized
Within the International Symposium for Social Habitat (WISH), a cooperation agreement focused on qualitative improvement of social habitat was signed between YSUAC and the Architectural Academy of the Italian University of Switzerland.
Within the “Social Habitat in Goris” project, five students from each of the Mendrisio University and YSUAC, through cooperation with the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency, have developed five design proposals. Each design has been developed by an authors’ group of two students, one from each university.
The second phase of discussion and assessment of design works took place on April 9, in YSUAC (the first phase had been carried out at USI Architectural Academy): The discussions were participated by the RA Deputy Minister of Urban Development Karlen Gevorgan, RA Chief Architect Narek Sargsyan, Deputy Marzpet (Regional Goernor) of Syunik marz Ara Dorunts, Mayor of Goris Nelson Voskanyan, Chief Architect of Goris Karo Parsyan, USI professor, WISH Officer Martino Pedrocci, and others.
Among the five design works submitted, the jury members recognized the one by Hovhannes Minasyan and Sebastian Karella. The work of this group was recognized the best also in Switzerland.
Following the welcoming remarks, Chairman of the jury Narek Sargsyan emphasized that all design proposals presented were rewarding and expressed the hope that the project would be a continuous one.
The author of the medal is the prominent Armenian sculptor, RA People’s Artist, YSUAC Professor Levon Hrach Tokmajyan.
